Our Halloween Survival Kit Revealed

Last week we sent out some mystery boxes to local businesses in Nottingham. The box, titled Halloween Survival Kit, was designed to get the Mini Rabbit name out there, and give people a bit of fun.

Created to show our unique flair and coincide with the Halloween holiday, we designed and produced everything from our West Bridgford showroom.

The boxes were hand-delivered by members of our team, and we hope that everybody likes them! Have a look below, and tell us what you think. New Box Packaging-01New Box Packaging-02

Accessories from Milan

Yesterday, we looked at the dresses, tops and skirts that have graced the runway in Milan. Today, the focus is on what’s being worn with these ensembles.

First stop, bags. And Trussardi gave us plenty to choose from, with their combination of totes, square doctor’s-style shapes and mini shoulder bags. Brunello Cucinelli and Fay also threw backpacks into the mix. Colours were muted and neutral, with nudes, greys and blacks prominent at Giorgio Armani. If your handbag is your piece of boldness, then Philipp Plein offered the largest of shoulder bags in soft, shapeless styles and eye-catching neon hues.

If a huge bag is a no-no, then who could forget Moschino’s now infamous Barbie-inspired collection, that saw models holding elaborate pink and plastic phone cases with perfectly molded hand-sticks. Dolce & Gabbana took the mannequin obsession even further, with satin boxes encasing their very own D&G dolly.

Legs were covered from the knees to the toes at Dsquared2, whose caged and studded sandals rose over the knee and were worn alongside black-framed optical glasses. Alberta Ferretti also went to the knee with crisscross-strapped fringed sandals in nude tones.

Turning to oriental styles, No. 21 showed striking satin sandals in obi-style knots, while Roberto Cavalli’s wooden flatforms gave a casual look, with simple leather toe and ankle straps.

In the world of eyewear, there was a clear theme across many designers. There was plenty of round shapes and tortoise-shell. Stella Jean and Giorgio Armani teamed these features with simple metal arms and bridges, whereas both Emilio Pucci and MSGM added bright orange lenses to stunning effect. For something completely different, look no further than Fendi’s geometric cateyes, whose black lenses contrasted perfectly to their white frames.

If these accessories tick all of your spring/summer boxes, then the collections didn’t fail to offer other items to be worn with the must-haves. Colourful and printed turbans provided a beach-ready look at Missoni, and white opaque tights with leaf applique were ideal for an ethereal feel at Francesco Scognamiglio. Simple, but massively effective, were Marni’s long, black Judo belts. Which will you be adding to your wardrobe?

The Best of LFW Eyewear

London Fashion Week has already shown us an array of eyewear styles, from modern takes on classic styles to the downright bizarre. Here are a few of our favourite new looks for Spring/Summer ’15.

Burberry Prorsum went frameless with their sunglasses of the season. In dark red tones, the simple oval shape and plastic arms let their colours do the talking. Thomas Tait also went not only frameless, but also armless, with clever metal bridges holding the glasses onto the model’s faces. Extreme cateye shapes took control here.

Common, but no less eye-catching, were the many retro sunglasses that were seen across many of the designer’s collections. Plastic frames reigned supreme at Duro Olowu who showed white cateyes with understated gold accents. Less subtle were Giles’ 70s-style oversized styles emphasised by pink and green lenses. Paul Smith also went for a 1970s makeover of the signature wayfarer shape. Brown frames and lenses gave a dramatic look.

If S/S ’15 is the time for being more daring in your sunglasses choice, London didn’t fail to cater for you. Never afraid of being bold, House of Holland took on two brave looks. Combining rectangular animal-print frames with reflective green lenses, these are perfect for the confident. Michael van der Ham also supported printed frames, accentuating a round shape. If shape shifting is your thing, then Nasir Mazhar gave two-in-one; an oversized rectangle frame with contrasting cateye lenses.

There have been plenty of styles to choose from in London, not forgetting Peter Jensen’s drawn-on Harry Potter-style specs. So now it’s time to decide which you will, or definitely won’t, be sporting next season.

Splendour Festival 2014

This weekend saw the greatly anticipated Splendour festival return to Wollaton Park in Nottingham. 13,000 people braved the early morning rain and took to their deckchairs and picnic blankets to listen to the various entertainment on offer across the five different stages. Headlining the event was singer Tom Odell, who closed the day’s events on the main stage at 9:30pm to a cheering crowd.

Musical talent Foxes also joined the performances in the late afternoon, with evening sets from Madchester legends the Happy Mondays and Bob Geldof’s new wave band the Boomtown Rats headlining the Confetti Stage. Nottingham’s own Saint Raymond a.k.a. Callum Burrows also took to the stage. The 19-year-old is signed to Asylum – home of Rudimental and Ed Sheeran, who he supported at a show in Vienna last week. Despite the downpour the winner of the Future Sound of Nottingham competition – Joy Mumford opened up the MainStage.

“It was chucking it down but people stayed to watch which I was really surprised about,” she said.

Nottingham’s world champion boxer Carl Froch even appeared on the main stage to be quizzed by Notts TV’s about his life and career. There were also lots of pop up stalls who set up shop selling Splendour merchandise, clothing and accessories.

Splendour 2014 was another HUGE success, following on from last years event which This marks yet another successful year for which was headlined by Jake Bugg and attracted 17,000 people.

London fashion week round-up

So London fashion week is almost at an end, but before the runways begin to collect dust and winter begins to take a hold, we are looking to the designers for the next trends in eye wear. Here are a selection of a few of our favourites from London.

Burberry embraced our humble town of Nottingham and its history in the lace trade by using its fabric extensively in his collection. He stuck to basics with eye wear repeating the previous seasons, futuristic oval shape.

Vivienne Westwood used oversized square shape with a feline flick.

Moschino Cheap and Chic embraced the bright and bold policy with oversized round shades and mirrored lenses for a fun, cheerful look. Neon colours proved a popular choice for adding a pop of colour – Paul Smith used neon on the classic aviator shape set against simple shades of black and white.
